Homework
Each day your student will have homework, with the exception of Fridays. For math, they will be bringing home a packet each Monday, and will be due each Friday. For reading, they are expected to read 20 minutes each night to practice fluency and comprehension. They must fill out their Reading Log to recieve credit. The Reading Log is due monthly for example if we have 13 days in August, there is 13 reading entires due that month and so on. For spelling, Mondays: Words 3x times each, Tuesdays: Write a sentence for each word. Wednesdays: Write your words in ABC order. Thursdays: Practice your spelling words for spelling test on Friday! Students are ALLOWED to turn in their Math Packets before Friday if they finish and can take their Spelling Test Thursday mornings if they feel they are ready that week and will not have to do their Thursday night HW. Last year, this became very popular towrds the end of the year, so I wanted to make it aware that it is allowed, and completely fine. In addition, whatever work is not completed in class, is also homework.
Weekly Folders/Binders
Please be sure to check your student's binder every night. Their binder is where their spelling words, reading logs, math packets, and any communication is at. You are also welcome to write a note in their binder, if there's something you need to communicate with me. Yellow weekly folders should be checked every Friday afternoon, and sent back to school on Monday morning. You will receive the monthly newsletter with updates and important dates throughout each month. I may pass out papers throughout the week that need to be checked as well.
